4D referral scheme

yellowparklands

4D is a company built on word of mouth and we believe it’s the best way of meeting new schools looking for an immersive space.

As a supporter of 4D, we want to say thanks every time you mention what we do to a colleague or friend. Our new referral scheme, open to businesses, schools or individuals, pays commission for every new lead that converts to a sale.

  • Do you know a school looking for a new sensory room?
  • Are your friends innovative, creative practitioners always looking for new engaging ways to wow pupils?
  • Is your local school being rebuilt?

All you need to do is explain what 4D do and send us an introduction. This could be on our mobile range of immersive products or a full installation and with our new leasing options, the costs of a space can be spread over a number of years.

Ten reasons why an immersive space will transform your sensory room!

Newfield School - Sensory space

Lots of schools we work with replace their sensory room with an immersive space. The combination of light, sound and projection all run through a tablet device is ideal for calming sensory activities, fun physio sessions and curriculum based learning too.

If you’re looking for a fresh, creative approach to a sensory room, here’s ten reasons why you need to talk to 4D!

 1. Curriculum focused…with a wide range of preloaded content, the immersive space can be used to teach lessons for all key stages

2. Inclusive…pupils of all ages and abilities can learn and interact in an exciting, creative environment

3. Instantly change…your environment to react to the needs and engagement of your pupils

4. Control…your entire space through tablet devices and wireless switches for captivating hands on learning

 5. Built to last… only the best quality kit is used in our installations so you can be confident that your space is built to last

6. Future proofed…images, videos, sounds and lighting can all be customised for every session. New content is quick and simple to upload.

7. Interactive and fun…splash in virtual water, reveal hidden images or trigger sound effects for an active, physio session

8. Socialisation…from a trip to the shop to a job interview, practice real life situations in a safe, friendly environment

9. Cause and effect…use assistive touch technologies to control the entire space

10. Simple to use…a press of a touchscreen changes light, sound and projection instantly

The Great Fire of London workshop at St Hugh’s Primary School

Sthughspopupgreatfire

Last week we travelled to St Hugh’s Primary in Liverpool to run one of our new immersive workshops. The 4D Pop Up was the scene for as creatives to run the session looking at the Great Fire Of London.

The two primary classes entered a time tunnel in the 4D Pop Up where they met the man who started the fire, Thomas Farriner. Pupils learnt all about the fire and how it started in the Pie Shop before a newsflash from the 1666 news came in with all the events of the day. As the lesson progressed, a quick press of an iPad dramatically changed the 4D Pop Up to engage the young people and give them new experiences.

Groups then wrote and shared virtual postcards sharing their ideas on how London should be rebuilt using all the knowledge they had developed in the session. It was a fantastic time working with the pupils and we were delighted to see how much the young people learnt and how their confidence grew in the immersive space.

Check out our full gallery below

In the afternoon we also ran the second of our free creative workshops.  We welcomed 25 practitioners to the school and ran a session in the 4D Pop Up before a second workshop in St Hugh’s immersive space. The focus of the event was creativity and best practices for sharing a whole school approach. We’d love for you to join us at our next creative workshop, to register, fill in this form.

Immersive spaces in health and social care update

sedgmoor

This week we were really pleased to hear that Sedgemoor Care Home has been nominated in the Innovative Design Category at this years Pinder Awards.

The dementia support centre which opened in 2013 in Liverpool is also home to one of our first immersive spaces in the health and social care sector. The Awards promote and recognise the very best developments in all types of care-related property. Well done to the staff and all involved with Sedgemoor and we hope you win this well deserved award.

The immersive space we installed features large scale projection, an interactive wall, lighting and sound. We have also been working with the fantastic staff at Sedgemoor to use the space in a person centred manor, giving a space that can be used to start conversations, share memories and relax. This initial project is showing us that our spaces are having a positive impact on people with dementia and their families.

We also recently welcomed staff from Clarence Ward and Sedgemoor Care home to our offices to discuss where the project goes next. A very positive and enjoyable time was spent exploring the possibilities. Expect more exciting developments very soon.

4D Exchange – 11th July

4D-Exchange1

4D Exchange is designed to help our network of schools get the most from their immersive spaces.

We know that our immersive environments work best with a passionate and inspired staff and we hope that 4D exchange can help practitioners find new ideas and best practices to take back to their own settings.

This is also a great time to ask questions to the 4D staff and other teachers working in an immersive environment.

Agenda

Get inspired! A handful of our schools will share outstanding lessons they have run in their immersive space and the outcomes of these. This will include a wide range of lessons from developing content to core curriculum themes.

Highspots & Hotspots. An open discussion for the group to share ideas, content and best practices. Discuss areas where your space could be working better with other practitioners and the 4D team. Bring a pen drive full of your favourite immersive content to share with others!

Further support and training. Meet your school’s relationship managers and find out how they are working to help you get the best from your immersive space.

4D Pop Up – launch events and lots of great feedback!

4dpopupmediacity

Last week, guests from across the North West joined us for the launch of 4D Pop Up.

The two events, held in Liverpool and MediaCityUK, gave attendees the chance to experience our most flexible space yet. Simple to set up, it means you can have an immersive space ready to use in a matter of minutes. At the end of a session, 4D Pop Up is easy to store and quick to transport to another venue.

Guests attended from a variety of settings including primary, secondary and SEN schools as well as those working in museums, art galleries and in health care settings. It was great to get some feedback on the 4D Pop Up and how it could be used in a variety of ways.

“Amazing! Can’t imagine how I’ll not use this in school!”

“4D Pop Up awakens the imagination!”

“Looks fantastic – really draws you in and makes you want to ask questions”

“Really impressed – attractive space and so compact!”

On Thursday we took the 4D Pop Up to the Kidz In The Middle exhibition in Coventry. This day long event is for parents with disabled children and it was inspiring to see the reactions of young people experiencing a trip into the 4D Pop Up. It also was great to attend an exhibition and be able to set up a whole immersive space in ten minutes!

4D creative’s first health care space

upcoming-events

4D creative have just completed our first installation in a health care setting.

4D creative and Mersey Care have entered into a joint arrangement to test out the impact of using technology to create an immersive experience for those suffering from dementia, their carers and the practitioners involved in their care. An immersive space has been installed in the Clarence Ward at Stoddart House and the joint arrangement will run from March – August 2013.

Mersey Care have commissioned 4D creative to work with the ward staff, carers and service users to create immersive experiences that will benefit them all as a whole. The work is a joint venture between 4D creative and Mersey Care and is an inspirational opportunity.

This is a really exciting development for 4D creative and is the start of our plans to diversify how we create immersive experiences and the impact they create. We have seen great results across all age groups in education and we are excited to see how our concept can be expanded to new sectors and user groups.

As an ongoing piece of research there will be regular updates on our space at Stoddart House.  If you’d like further information on this or any of our spaces, just get in touch.

Pop Up Immersive Spaces Preview Video

As we announced in December, 4D creative are currently developing mobile immersive spaces. Our new inflatable pods will give you an inspirational immersive environment but without the need for a fixed space. 4D will of course still be installing permanent immersive spaces but we’re also aware that lots of schools need a more flexible solution.

The new product will have everything you need for an inspirational immersive space. An inflatable pod will give you the foundations whilst projection, light, and sound will be powered from a tablet device running our 4D create software. At the end of the lesson, the pod deflates, the kit is returned to the specially designed flight case and all can be stored away quickly and easily.

We took a prototype version of the pod on the road last year and here’s a video to give you a hint of what is ahead.

[media url=”http://vimeo.com/58363832″ width=”600″ height=”400″]

Whilst the fine details are currently being confirmed, our aim is for the first pods to be delivered to customers in early April and you will be able to place an order very soon. For more information send us an email or fill in the form below.

4D creative’s first London space

St Matthew Academy in Blackheath is to become the first school in London to have a 4D Immersive Space.

The finished space will be ready for use by the start of December and the school’s Principal, Michael Barry, is already looking forward to its arrival:

“I cannot wait until the immersive space is finished and I can look at the faces of our children as they walk in the room and find themselves in different places around the world or in different times in our history.

They will be able to be in the war, seeing and hearing the gunfire across their heads in the trenches. Just imagine their creative writing after they feel the emotion of being in that time and in that place …in our immersive space!”

We first met the school earlier this year. Since then, we’ve worked with the school to develop the perfect design for their needs. Principal Barry explains this journey further:

Michael Barry – Principal (St Matthew Academy)

“I first saw 4D creative’s immersive space in an article on Twitter. I immediately got in touch with Cathy Cross and said “I love what I have seen please come and visit me”. Within a week we were having coffee together in my school planning how we could make an immersive space a reality. There was something I loved, not just about the concept of an immersive space but about Cathy herself, it was her passion for learning.

A few weeks later Ben Willetts arrived at SMA with a model of the immersive space in a box. He was full of passion too and captivated us with his box of tricks. Within two minutes of seeing the model in action and looking at the detailed plans for the space in our school, I had the finance director in the room and had agreed a leasing plan over three years.

I wanted an immersive learning space for our children and I wanted it NOW”

This is a significant and exciting installation for all of us at 4D and we will be announcing the opening of the space in the coming weeks.

If you’d like to have these details emailed to you, just send us a quick message via our contact page and we will make sure you are the first to know.
