The brand new 4D creative content collection!

The power and flexibility of 4D Immersive Spaces is created by lighting, sound and projection. Outstanding immersive lessons need carefully curated content and every 4D Immersive Space starts with a bank of content that can teach lessons right across the curriculum.

We have recently worked with a team of creative and passionate freelancers who have developed a brand new library of content for our spaces. Images have been transformed, lighting states programmed and whole scores of music written.

One of our team, Tony Carberry, filmed this video showing some of his content creations which you can see below. Tony made us an enchanted forest, futuristic world and crashing waves theme amongst many others.

Of course, once a 4D Immersive Space is up and running, the power to create content is open to everyone! Teachers and pupils alike can source images or create new themes using cameras, phones and recording equipment. Putting pupils in charge of their lessons like this, raises engagement and pushes creativity.

If you’d like to come and see what content we use in our spaces or how you can programme outstanding transformational lessons, then just get in touch.

Cathy’s den making top tips

Making dens goes to the very core of 4D creative. The whole company started from the idea of creating immersive spaces using simple everyday objects.

What we do today is ‘extreme den making’. The idea that you can transport pupils to another world and engage them on a deeper emotional level works whether you are under a giant parachute or in one of our permanent installations immersed by LED lighting, surround sound and giant projection.

Here’s a film of our creative director Cathy explaining the best way to make dens and the impact it can have on pupils. The full video is below or to see more like it, head over to YouTube.

If you’d like to book a den making course or to visit a 4D space just get in touch and we’ll do the rest.

The Grange School Opening

The Grange School in Manchester opened last week and we went down to see how the staff and pupils were using their brand new 4D Immersive Space.

The impressive new school in Gorton was officially opened by Councillor Afzal Khan from Manchester City Council, Paul Lake, an ambassador from Manchester City FC and the head of governors.

After the official opening and delicious buffet, there were full tours of the school including the immersive hall at the school. We had a great time meeting staff, pupils and guests of the school and heard about lots of brilliant lessons taking place already at the school.

We heard about a class being taken on an arctic exploration! The class got dressed in their warmest clothes and then ‘trekked’ from their classroom to the 4D immersive space. Greeting them was a wintery theme where they heard the story of Captain Scott’s last expedition to Antarctica.

It was also great to meet lots of pupils who love their new space. The roller coaster theme we installed on the 4D system is a massive hit to the extent that if pupils work hard in the lesson, they get the theme played as a reward! We had lots of requests for the theme during the afternoon.

Another pupil we met, Justin, is an animation whizz and we were lucky enough to see some of his work. The school are hoping that Justin’s animation will soon be shown on their giant projection screens. One of Justin’s animations can be seen below. We think it’s fantastic!

Overall, we had a great time at the opening. The staff and pupils made us feel very welcome and the new building is a fantastic new school which we are proud to be a part of.

4D Installation at St Kentigern’s Primary, Manchester

Our new immersive space at St Kentigern’s Primary in Manchester is currently being built and is starting to grow into a fantastic new 4D Immersive Space. We’ve had lots of really exciting meetings with the school so far including inviting a group of students to visit our office to investigate our spaces.

After their visit, some of the pupils wrote to their governors telling them about our spaces and why they wanted one at St Kentigerns. Their persistance seems to have paid of as they will have their own 4D Immersive Space very soon!

Here’s a couple of the letters the pupils sent. They are now hanging up in our office!

A trip to Four Oaks Primary

We were recently showing some guests the finished immersive space at Four Oaks Primary. Halfway through our session a group of pensioners from the local community centre popped their head in during a tour of the new school. Gav decided to give them a full demonstration of the space to see what they thought.

It was great to see their reactions and to begin to see how the group could use the room. One idea was for reminiscence pieces to transport the group anywhere and at any time. We also saw that the space got our guests up and dancing (as per the picture above!). This would be fantastic for exercise work for the group. Everybody also agreed that our spaces are perfect for relaxation, people of all ages love our aquarium and beach themes!

Croxteth Primary Official Opening.

We had a fantastic time at the official opening of Croxteth Primary School last week. Firstly we were given a premiere of a performance with an ecological theme, we laughed, we thought, we clapped along! Then came full tours of the fantastic new building including the chance to explore the immersive space we recently installed.

The school had invited their local MP Stephen Twigg and Bishop James Jones of Liverpool and both praised the quality of the building and the quality of the young people who clearly love their new school. We are very proud to be a part of this amazing new school.

Our video shows a snippet of the people that came and visited the “Kaleidoscope Room” as the school have named our space. The music comes from the jazz band playing at the opening.

If you’d like to visit one of our spaces for yourself then just get in touch!

Matthew Moss High School, Rochdale

[superquote]”I love learning in here…. the space is amazing and that’s why we called it the WOW room!”[/superquote]

Our biggest space yet! Matthew Moss High wanted a school hall that could be an incredible performance space and an immersive learning environment yet still be used for more traditional activities like exams. Our design team did not let them down! The space has two projection areas and an interactive floor meaning performances can take place all across the hall, as can immersive lessons. We also installed professional lighting and a brand new gantry so the school can host incredible performances. The space is completed with some flexible staging which can be packed away when needed. The school’s first production in the finished 4D Space is Singing In The Rain and we already have our tickets!

Croxteth Primary School, Liverpool

[superquote]”The difference it has made to the children is phenomenal”[/superquote]

Croxteth Primary moved into their new school building recently and were lucky enough to have a 4D Immersive Space waiting for them! This was a brilliant space to design as the architects set aside a semi circle shaped room. We at 4D love a curved wall! Once we got our hands on the new room, we started with giant projection and an interactive floor. Next up came a swirling ceiling feature complete with twinkling fibre optic lights. We also fitted some light globes for an extra wow factor. Getting down to practicalities, large cupboards were fitted with a magnetic dry wipe finish. We also supplied the school with some giant bean bags and a bean bag storage area!

Crescent Primary School, Stoke

[superquote]”Working with 4D has been fantastic. at the heart of them they are looking at what will enhance teaching and learning and what will enhance the curriculum.”[/superquote]

This installation was the first of our new ‘modular’ system. We’ve developed a quicker, more efficient way of installing our Immersive Spaces. This is still the same great concept but we are able to dramatically reduce the cost. At Crescent we installed a single wall of giant projector screens and our incredible interactive floor. Our design team also came up with our brand new light boxes which sit in the ceiling area and we think look fantastic!
